33-year-old man killed in Radford
Radford University had a scare Thursday night.
At around 9:10 p.m. residents around the Calhoun St and Madison Street intersection heard gunshots.
Julia* a resident on Calhoun said she heard 3 shots and then a pause followed by 4 more shots.
The victim was Floyd Wilfred-Linn Wright, Jr. of Christiansburg.
The man arrested was an employee at the University. His name is Phillip Beale Sr.
The police responded quickly and with diligence.
Radford University followed suit. Roughly ten minutes after the shooting happened alerts were sent out through cell phone calls and text messages.
The calls said to go into lockdown mode. Which basically means stay where you are, lock the doors and don’t leave until further notice.
Many messages were sent out throughout the night with the final message that all was clear received by students around 3 a.m.
